The City Council appoints members to boards, commissions, and committees unless otherwise stated in an advisory body's by-laws or by statute or provided for by the Council, City Charter or Code. All members shall maintain their principal place of residence within the city limits of the City of Tulare at the time of their appointment and throughout the term of service.

When a vacancy occurs on any of the boards, commissions, or committees you have indicated an interest in, the City Council will conduct interviews of all candidates on file prior to making a selection. Applications may be submitted at any time and are kept on file for a period of two years from the date of receipt or until appointment, whichever occurs first.

Planning Commission (Cancelled)

The regular meeting of the Planning Commission scheduled for October 14, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. has been cancelled due to lack of business. The next regularly scheduled meeting is Monday, October 28, 2024, at 7:00 p.m.

The five-member Planning Commission is responsible for considering and making decisions regarding land use, planning and zoning in accordance with the scope of city ordinances and state planning laws. A wide variety of issues are addressed including residential subdivisions, design review, zoning and environmental impact assessments and annexations. The Commission meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber located at 491 North M Street, Tulare.

The public is encouraged to attend and participate in public meetings.
