The City Council appoints members to boards, commissions, and committees unless otherwise stated in an advisory body's by-laws or by statute or provided for by the Council, City Charter or Code. All members shall maintain their principal place of residence within the city limits of the City of Tulare at the time of their appointment and throughout the term of service.

When a vacancy occurs on any of the boards, commissions, or committees you have indicated an interest in, the City Council will conduct interviews of all candidates on file prior to making a selection. Applications may be submitted at any time and are kept on file for a period of two years from the date of receipt or until appointment, whichever occurs first.

Board of Public Utilities Commissioners Meeting

The Board of Public Utilities Commissioners is a five-member board charged with the control and management of the Department of Public Works per City Charter. The Board meets every first and third Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Council Chamber located at the Tulare Public Library. The public is encouraged to attend and participate in public meetings. 

Attending and Participating in Meetings

You can attend meetings in person or access the meetings via YouTube. If you wish to provide public comment while not physically in attendance, you may do so by calling (559) 366-1849 during Public Comments, Public Hearing, and/or General Business items.
