The Parks and Recreation Division provides a wide array of programs for the entire family. The division is responsible for coordinating activities including instructional classes and sports programs for youth and adults, as well as special community events. It also maintains all city parks totaling 363 acres, city medians, and landscaping and lighting districts. The goal of the division is to create community through people, parks and programs.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide recreational experiences, enhance human development, promote health and wellness, support cultural unity, facilitate community problem-solving, protect natural resources, strengthen community image and sense of place, support economic development, strengthen community safety through the provision of leisure programs.

Parks & Recreation Commission
The Tulare Parks & Recreation Commission, a seven member advisory board appointed by the City Council, is charged with the responsibility of presenting recommendations to the City Council in all areas related to parks, recreation, teen services, park improvements and development. This Commission meets monthly on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 a.m., Claude Meitzenheimer Community Center, 830 S. Blackstone Street.
